Our family has been farming in the rolling hills of Fleetwood since 1983. Our parents began making maple syrup in 1986. Since then we have also started producing garlic, honey, and we are exploring growing shiitake mushrooms.
We manage our 16 acre woodlot for sustainability and sap is collected by a tubing system from 1,000 taps. We boil our syrup on a modern wood-fired evaporator. We take great care with the quality and flavour of our syrup.
Although we can't offer group tours, during syrup season (approximately March 10 to April 10), we enjoy welcoming visitors to the sugar shack to smell the sweet steam, feel the heat of the furnace, taste the fresh sap and finished syrup, and learn more about the demanding process required to make quality maple syrup. Do call ahead to find out when we will be boiling and confirm whether we are able to receive visitors.
Our syrup is bottled in both glass and plastic containers, and sold year round at the farm. Please call in advance to arrange curbside pickup at the farm. We also sell our maple syrup through several retail outlets.
Orono: the Firehall Bistro and Durham Co-op.
Blackstock: Wrights Feeds and Needs.
Port Perry: Hinterland Growers and Port Perry Feeds.
We also sell maple syrup at Bowmanville’s Maplefest and Applefest and at Spademan Christmas tree farm's Christmas store in December (Hwy 7A near Utica).
Syrup is perfect for every occasion -- corporate or speaker gifts, wedding favours, teacher and birthday gifts, hostess gifts, stocking stuffers, and Christmas gifts for that tricky person who has everything. And at home, try it on vanilla ice cream, in applesauce or fruit salad, in a smoothie or salad dressing, on spareribs or baked squash, or with whipped cream on a pie or fruit crisp. We are certified as a local maple syrup producer by Foodland Ontario, and we are members of the Ontario Maple Syrup Producers' Association.
